East Coast fine artist, Hanna Rose DeMarco, makes figurative paintings informed by emotional responses to memory, and personal history. Each painting is crafted with Hanna Rose’s process of applying oil paint in drips, scraping it across the surface, or applying it in thick, tacky layers. The thoughtful, and sometimes raw, content is emphasized by a balance of intuitive and deliberate mark. The paintings are intended to be a physical representation of active emotional excavation and how body language betrays our performative facades.
Hanna Rose lives and works in New York and New Jersey. She received her BFA from Stockton University, in 2018, and her MFA from the New York Academy of Art, in 2020.
